City Okays Budget With 3 Percent Raises, Increases In Health Care

Paris, Tenn.—At a short and sweet special meeting Thursday night, the Paris City Commission unanimously approved the Fiscal 2020 budget which will include a three percent Cost of Living raise for all employees, a 9.5 percent increase in health care premiums and includes funds for eight different grant projects for the city including the planned Splash Pad at Eiffel Tower Park, sidewalks on Wilson Street near the high school and Rhea Elementary, new signalization downtown, replacement of the Rison Street bridge and upgrades and ADA accessibility around the Eiffel Tower Park.
Total expenditures in the budget are $13,749,157.
The commission also approved the property tax rate of $.77 per hundred dollars of assessed valuation on all taxable property, real and personal within the city.
Because of the 4th of July holiday being on a Thursday, the July city commission meeting will be held July 11, with the planning commission on July 18.
