The man who had been sought on active warrants in Henry, Carroll and Weakley County last week died Friday at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
Chase Funeral Home in Huntingdon has posted an obituary for Billy Andrew Smothers, age 32, of Huntingdon. According to the obituary, the family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
The District Attorney’s office in Huntingdon is investigating the circumstances of Smothers’ death and a news release reportedly will be issued on the outcome.
The Weakley County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release last week seeking the public’s help in locating Smothers. According to Weakley Co. Sheriff’s Captain Randall McGowan, Smothers had active arrest warrants from Carroll County for stealing a vehicle, as well as an active federal arrest warrant.
He is survived by his mother, Sandy Sherrod of Hollow Rock, his father, Tim Smothers of Huntingdon, one son, Mason Smothers of Dresden, three sisters, Sabrina Pinkley, Chasity Smothers, both of Huntingdon, and Cassie Williams of Bruceton. He also leaves eight nieces and nephews.
