Murray, Ky.–A 59-year-old Calloway County man who law enforcement determined was a source of supply of crystal meth in western Kentucky was arrested at a residence near Murray. A joint investigation by numerous local, state and federal law enforcement agencies over the course of the past several months led to his arrest and the seizure of large quantities of illegal drugs and firearms.
James “Jimmy” Norsworthy has been charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Possession of Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Obscuring the Identity of a Machine, Prescription Controlled not in Original Container and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
In September of 2018, detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office identified 59 year old James Norsworthy as a source of supply for Crystal Methamphetamine in Western Kentucky. The investigation revealed that Norsworthy was residing in Calloway County at 9597 State Route 94 West, Murray.
The above listed agencies worked together over the past several months, compiling and sharing information.
On Wednesday, June 5, 2019, the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office obtained a search warrant for Norsworthy’s residence. The search warrant was executed later that evening at approximately 8:20 PM by the law enforcement agencies listed above.
Norsworthy was located and arrested on the property at the time of the execution of the search warrant. Deputies recovered Methamphetamine and money off of Norsworthy’s person that is believed to be proceeds of illegal illicit drug sales.
Deputies searched the residence the property, more than eight acres, for two days.
During a search of the property law enforcement recovered approximately six (6) pounds of Crystal Methamphetamine, Marijuana, firearms, scales and packing materials indicative of drug trafficking. Norsworthy is a convicted felon and unable to lawfully possess firearms or ammunition.
The majority of the hidden contraband was found hidden outside in air tight containers.
The investigation revealed that Norsworthy had been selling Methamphetamine for years, but had only lived at this particular residence for the past approximate year. Large amounts of Methamphetamine were being transported to Norsworthy’s residence in gas tanks of vehicles. The methamphetamine would be removed from the gas tanks and then sold by Norsworthy.
Law enforcement has been following up on information regarding this case since June 5, 2019. This information is just now being release due to the fact law enforcement did not want to compromise the ongoing investigation due to law enforcement continuing to intercept large quantities of Methamphetamine flooding Western Kentucky.
The agencies involved in this case are the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office, McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, Graves County Sheriff’s Office, Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Paducah Post of Duty DEA, Murray Police Department, the Kentucky State Police and the Paducah Police Department.
