Hiring Of Mason Storey Completes UC Schools Teaching Staff

By Mike Hutchens, UC Schools Communications Director
Union City, Tenn.–Union City Schools has added one more hire for the 2019-20 school year.
Mason Storey, who has enjoyed tremendous success as the Hillcrest Middle School girls’ basketball coach, has been hired as a UC Elementary School teacher.
The 30-year-old Storey will also serve as the UC Middle School head soccer coach and assist Chuck Reedy as an assistant with the high school hoops program.
He will teach computers and intervention at UCES.
“We’re always excited about quality people – people of integrity – who are interested in working with us at Union City Schools,” UC Director of Schools Wes Kennedy said.
“We had a late opening and Mason contacted us and was interested in what we had to offer. We’re thrilled to add a good, young quality educator and coach to our staff.”
Storey, who graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 2011, is married to a nurse, Darcy, and has a son, Cooper, who’ll be three next month.
“I’m really excited about a new opportunity and I look forward to both teaching and coaching at Union City,” Storey said. “They have a great reputation in both academics and athletics, and this is a fantastic move for both me and my family.
“Whether it’s the classroom, getting the chance to coach in high school with Coach Reedy, or being in charge of the middle school soccer program, I’m going to roll my sleeves up and go to work and give the kids and Union City Schools my very best.”
