Crappie USA Super Event, Crappie USA Mega Bucks Tourneys Set At Paris Landing

Paris, Tenn.- Meeting early Monday morning, the Henry County Tourism Authority board gave the green light to a Crappie USA Super Event and Crappie USA Mega Bucks event.
The Crappie USA Super Event, set to include high school teams fishing to win scholarships will be held in March of 2020 at Paris Landing State Park. The event will include two days of high school teams and two days of crappie tournaments in which anglers from 13 states vie for the championship.
The Tourism Authority approved the $25,000 request for the Crappie USA Super Event.
The Crappie USA Mega Bucks Event was approved for $35,000. The original dates requested were for March of 2020, but they may move it further into the summer months. It is a two day crappie tournament with anglers from several states, according to the application.
In other business:
–The Kiwanis Arts and Crafts festival, planned for September, requested and received $1500, an amount that was comparable with the last several years.
–The Tourism Authority board also heard a report from Paris-Henry County Chamber Director Travis McLeese on the upcoming TN River Jam Music Festival this weekend.
He said it has exceeded expectations, with tickets purchased online from 10 states as far away as Texas and Wisconsin. The festival will include 22 artists, 12 events, and 7 venues across the city of Paris and county. For more information about the Festival go online at tnriverjam.com.
–The board heard from Paris City Manager Kim Foster, who reported the city received a $43,000 Tourism Enhancement Grant.
.–County Commissioner Drew Williams also spoke about how well the Henry County No Fly Zone Shooting team had done in Nashville bringing back 40 trophies, which is the most ever.
