Paris Man Arrested For DUI After Hitting Downtown Dumpster

Paris, Tenn.–A Paris man was charged with DUI and open container after he was observed by a Henry County Sheriff’s deputy hitting a downtown dumpster and crossing the center line a couple times on West Wood Street.
Jeremy Villarreal, age 42, fell asleep in the back of the patrol car while Cpl. Stacey Bostwick was in the process of arresting him.
According to the report, Bostwick saw a dark blue van make a wide turn onto West Wood Street and hit one of the decorative dumpsters and Bostwick then saw the vehicle cross the center line two on West Wood Street.
Bostwick activated his blue lights behind the van and then saw it turn onto 69N, turn into a driveway and park behind a building. As Villarreal exited his vehicle, Bostwick said in the report he could smell an odor of alcohol and that the driver was unsteady on his feet.
According to the report, Villarreal failed field sobriety tests and Bostwick placed him in the patrol car. When Bostwick checked on Villarreal’s van, he saw an open container of beer in the console. When Bostwick went back to the patrol car a few minutes later, he found Villareal was asleep.
