BPU Employees Evans, Webb Earn State Certification

Paris, TN – Two Board of Public Utilities employees have recently earned state certifications that will help BPU continue to provide safe and reliable services to residents of Henry County.
Both Matt Evans, BPU Water/Wastewater Storekeeper and Engineering Aid, and Ronnie Webb, BPU Wastewater Operations and Collections Technician are now Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation Certified Operators.  Evans recently earned his Grade 2 Distribution System Operator certificate and Webb earned his Grade 2 Wastewater Collections System Operator certificate.
The TN Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) requires all operators in direct charge of water and wastewater treatment facilities, collections, and distribution systems to be certified operators.   This is a strenuous process of classes, studying, and passing the certification exam.  This program covers rules/regulations, processes, maintenance/operations, data interpretation, mathematical formulas, and safety practices for each job function.  All water and wastewater employees are encouraged to pursue certification in their field not only per TDEC requirements but also to benefit BPU.
“I am extremely proud of Matt and Ronnie,” said Tony Brown, Director of Water and Wastewater Services at BPU. “Both gentlemen worked extremely hard and put in time outside of work studying and preparing for the exam. The dedication and commitment to excellence by our employees is what sets BPU apart, it is the kind of service you get as part of a public utility.”
