McKenzie Police: Victim Shot Himself

McKenzie, Tenn.—The victim of last week’s shooting in McKenzie is still recovering in the hospital from his wound and the McKenzie Police are now saying the investigation showed that he accidentally shot himself.
McKenzie Police responded to a report of a shooting on Euclid Ave. last Tuesday, June 11.
According to a press release issued Monday afternoon by McKenzie Police, “Upon officers and investigators arrival it was stated that a third party had shot a 17 year old juvenile male. Due to the seriousness of the allegations other agencies responded to assist the McKenzie Police Department in preserving the potential crime scene and maintaining the safety of the community.”
The press release states, “However, after further investigation it was determined that the male was handling the weapon inappropriately and accidentally discharged the weapon injuring himself.”
