Union City, Tenn.—Organizers have announced that $20,000 was raised at Saturday’s benefit for Obion County Sheriff’s Deputy Sgt. Darrell Davis, who suffered a massive stroke in late May.
Deputy Chris Cummings told WENK/WTPR that donations can still be made to the Benefit for Darrell Davis account at First Citizens Bank.
In a Facebook post, Cummings said, “Holy Cow. I love this county!”. He thanked all the volunteers who worked hard on the benefit. “I cannot thank the people and businesses who donated their time, goods and services, and money! This was a very humbling experience for everyone involved, especially me.”
The benefit included live music, a live and silent auction and the sale of chicken plates. The cookers were donated by Tyson Foods.
Sgt. Davis is recovering at the Vanderbilt Medical Center rehabilitation facility and the funds will go toward his medical care.
