Graves Co. Deputies Set Up Transaction For Stolen Items, Arrest Murray Man

Graves County, Ky.—A Murray man was arrested for burglarizing a home in Graves Co. in May, stealing a brand new $3,500 engine diagnosing scanner and two rifles.
After a transaction with the stolen scanner was set up Thursday by an undercover Graves Co. deputy in Murray, Troy A. Brown, age 18, of Murray was arrested and charged with first degree burglary.
On Thursday, Graves Co. Deputy Jeremy Prince learned that the suspect was trying to sell it the stolen scanner.
According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, another Graves Co. deputy working in an undercover capacity made contact via telephone with the suspect and inquired about purchasing the stolen scanner. The suspect agreed to sell the piece of stolen equipment and agreed to meet on a parking lot on Main Street in Murray.
Sheriff Jon Hayden, Capt. Jeremy Prince and Chief  Deputy Ramage met with Murray Police and set a meeting location with the suspect.
Once the suspect arrived and handed the stolen equipment to the undercover deputy, he was immediately arrested. The vehicle that he was operating was seized. A search of the suspects apartment in Murray was done also. The two stolen rifles from the burglary on Central Road in Graves County were found and recovered.
The suspect later confessed to committing the Central Road burglary. He was transported back to Graves County where he was lodged at the Graves County Jail
