Union City, Tenn.—A Union City man turned himself in after a warrant for his arrest on aggravated assault charges was issued.
Union City Police were dispatched to 505 Nash St. on Memorial Day on a call of an altercation ongoing. Upon arrival, they noticed blood drops in the parking lot at Eastgate Village Apartments.
Officers followed the blood drops up the sidewalk and up the stairs and the blood drops led officers to the door of Apartment 20. Officers knocked on the door and announced their presence multiple times but no one answered.
According to the police report, because of the amount of blood outside, they made entry into the apartment. People inside the apartment said two of them were washing laundry when Geramie Gibson arrived, threatening to harm one of them. They had an altercation over a backpack and Gibson reportedly took a pistol out of the backpack.
Gibson then reportedly struck the other man in the head with the pistol and the victim then ran to the apartment to stop the bleeding. His girlfriend took him to the Baptist emergency room for treatment.
A warrant was issued for Geramie Gibson, age 48, of Kenn-Tenn Hwy., Union City, and he turned himself in at the Obion County Jail the next day.
