Buchanan, Tenn.–The Nina and Pinta replica ships–which had been scheduled to leave today–will be staying even longer at Paris Landing State Park than originally planned.
State Park Marina Spokesman Alan Lancaster told WENK/WTPR this morning that Nina and Pinta cannot leave for their next destination in Grafton, Illinois, yet due to flooding.
He said the ships will be staying at least until June 9 and maybe even until June 15.
However, the ships will not be doing any public tours Thursday, Friday and Saturday of this week because of the Triton Boat Owners tournament that will be held at Paris Landing State Park this weekend. Some 350-400 boaters will be arriving for the tourney.
Lancaster said the ships will remain docked next to the marina, where they have been since arriving May 22.
Officials with the Columbus Ships were unavailable for comment this morning because they were giving a school tour on the ships.
Once the tours resume: Admission charges are $8.50 for adults, $7.50 for seniors, and $6.50 for students 5 – 16. Children 4 and under are Free. The ships are open every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. No reservations necessary.
Teachers or organizations wishing to schedule a 30 minute guided tour with a crew member should call 1 787 672 2152 or email ninapintatour@gmail.com . Minimum of 15. $5.00 per person. No Maximum. Visit the website at www.ninapinta.org.
