Dover, Tenn.—“A New Life” is what the new program initiated for inmates at the Stewart County Detention Center hopes to provide and it’s also the name of the program itself. Brother Phil Dunn and his wife Betsy of the Bumpus Mills Church of Christ put on the 11-week program that teaches vocational planning, resume writing, mock interviews, how to apply for jobs, etc.
Eleven inmates graduated Friday from the program and a reception was held, with church members making all the desserts. A BBQ meal was served. Sheriff Frankie Gray said he was so proud of all the participants of the class and there will be another class held in a couple of weeks.
