Buchanan Woman Killed In Two-Vehicle Crash; THP Report Released

Buchanan, Tenn.—A 75-year-old Buchanan woman was killed in the fatal two-vehicle accident on Hwy. 79N Friday afternoon.
Tennessee Highway Patrol Lt. Brad Wilbanks released the full report of the accident to WENK/WTPR overnight.
As WENK/WTPR reported Friday, the accident occurred around 3:45 p.m. on Hwy. 79N at the intersection with E. Antioch Rd.
According to Wilbanks, Melda LaRue of Buchanan was killed in the accident. He said she was southbound driving a Mountaineer SUV on the highway and a white box truck driven by Larry Rogers, age 53, of Lexington, Tenn., was northbound.
LaRue attempted to turn left onto E. Antioch Rd. and crossed into the northbound lanes and into the path of Rogers’ truck, which hit her vehicle in the passenger side.
LaRue was pronounced dead at the scene. Rogers was not injured. According to the report, LaRue was not wearing a seatbelt. Rogers was reported wearing a seat belt.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Henry County EMS, THP and Paris Landing Volunteer Fire Department were all called to the scene of the accident.
