Murray, Ky.–A one-year-old child died after being found in a pond in Calloway Co.
The Calloway County Sheriff’s Office 911 dispatch received a call at 5:08 p.m. Wednesday from a female who said her child had been located in a pond near her residence and was not breathing. Deputies and EMS were dispatched to the residence and CPR instructions were given to the caller over the phone, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.
CPR was performed by the first arriving Deputy until EMS arrived and assumed care of the child.
The child was transported to the Murray-Calloway County Hospital by ambulance and
was later transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville by AirEvac for further treatment.
On Thursday, the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Vanderbilt University Police Department that the child had been pronounced deceased.
An investigation is ongoing by the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by Murray-Calloway County EMS and the KY
Department of Fish & Wildlife.
