Paris, Tenn.–Silver Star Medal recipient Georg Todd of Paris will be the speaker at this year’s Henry County Memorial Day program, set for 8 a.m. Monday, May 27, on the court square. Todd was the Grand Marshal of the 2017 Henry County Veterans’ Parade and spoke at the dedication of the Moving Vietnam War Wall in Paris in 2017.
Master of Ceremonies will be Max Beidler, commander of Amvets Post 45. Edith Gardner will present patriotic music this year and “Amazing Grace” will again be played on bagpipes by Ed Smith of Paris. All service organizations will perform the laying of the weaths at the war memorial on the courthouse lawn. The Tennessee State Guard will perform military honors and opening and closing prayers will be offered by Randy Odom.
At 10 a.m., a Flag Run will be held at the Amvets on Hwy. 79N and awards will be given. A two-bell ceremony will honor members and veterans lost in the last year. Lunch will be served of BBQ, potato salad, baked beans, cole slaw and dessert. Everyone is welcome.
