Late Lt. Lannon Of Union City To Be Honored By Governor In Nashville Ceremony

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee and other state officials will honor ten service members who gave the ultimate sacrifice at the state’s annual Memorial Day service at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 24, at 10:30 a.m. on War Memorial Plaza in Nashville.  Among those to be honored is the late Lt. Richard Lannon of Union City, who was reported missing in the Vietnam War in 1968, but was not identified until 2018. He was laid to rest in a ceremony in Union City in March.
The list of those who will be honored:
Private First Class Tara Turnage of Memphis was killed in the line of duty on May 7, 2018 in a vehicular accident at the National Training Center in Fort Irwin, California.
 
Ensign Harold DeMoss of Nashville went missing on June 23, 1945, but he was not identified until 2018 and was laid to rest on September 15, 2018.
 
Seaman 2nd Class William Campbell of Elizabethton was presumably killed on December 7, 1941, but was not identified until 2018 and was laid to rest on October 12, 2018.
 
Private First Class William Cavin of Hancock County was presumably killed on November 20, 1943, but was not identified until 2018 and was laid to rest on October 13, 2018.
 
Second Lieutenant Martin O’Callaghan, Jr. of Memphis was presumably killed on February 15, 1945, but was not identified until 2018 and was laid to rest on November 5, 2018.
 
Corporal William Ross of Hendersonville was killed in the line duty on December 11, 2018 following a helicopter accident off of the coast of Japan on December 6, 2018.
 
Private First Class Lewis Price of Rogersville went missing on November 6, 1944 while serving in World War II. He was identified in 2018 and was laid to rest on December 14, 2018.
 
Lieutenant Richard Lannom of Union City was reported missing on March 1, 1968, but was not identified until 2018. He was laid to rest March 2, 2019.
 
Captain Travis Brannon of Nashville was killed in the line of duty on March 30, 2019 during a training accident at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma in Arizona.
 
Lance Corporal Andrew Carpenter of Columbia was killed in action on February 19, 2011 from injuries sustained on February 14 during combat operations.  His widow Crissie Carpenter will receive the Gold Star Family Proclamation.
