Murray, Ky.–Tony Jarvis, the current House 2 Principal at McCracken County High School has been named the new Murray High School Principal. His hiring was announced at a news conference at the high school Monday.
Jarvis began his career as a U.S. History teacher at Lone Oak High School in Paducah. In addition, he served as an Instructional Coach and Assistant Principal at Lone Oak High School. He then taught U.S. History after consolidation before becoming the House 2 principal at McCracken County High School in the summer of 2014. Jarvis has been in his current position for five years.
A graduate of Murray State University with a B.S. in History and M.A. in School Administration, Jarvis and his wife, Melanie, have three children, Madison, Reed, and Marley.
Coy Samons, Murray Independent School District superintendent, said the district welcomes Jarvis to the Tiger family. “We are more than pleased that Tony Jarvis is joining the Tiger Family, he has an extensive successful secondary education experience,” he said.
Jarvis said he was humbled and honored. “I am humbled and honored to be asked to lead this school, Murray High has great students, exceptional staff, and a strong community that supports student achievement. Go Tigers.”
Jarvis is replacing Teresa Speed, Murray High School principal, who announced earlier this year she will assume the role of Director of District Wide Services on July 1. (The role includes Athletic Director and Maintenance and Custodial services).
