Paris, Tenn.–Pekie the cow was busy contemplating what she was going to do–and when she was going to do it–at Saturday’s first-ever Cow Patty Poop-ArOma at the Atkins-Porter Recreation Center grounds in Paris. With her, from left, was Cayce Matterson, Deb Elliott, her owner Laura Moss, Chance Johnson and Charlie Morton. Pekie the cow was one of two cows and a few calves that were brought to the fundraiser for Project Bridge, in which people bought squares for $100 apiece with the hope that the cows would do their bit on their squares. There were games and activities set up on the grounds and despite the heat, the event drew a good-sized crowd. Entertainment was provided by several musicians all day, including the Harmonix group from KPAC. Project Bridge is an initiative from the 19 United Methodist Churches in Henry County, spearheaded by Pastor Leah Howe (Puryear and Buchanan United Methodist Church) and Jane Etheridge.
