Martin, Tenn.–UTM students, friends and family poured into Hardy Graham Stadium on campus Thursday night for a candlelight vigil to honor and remember Decora Alexander, who was killed Saturday night, May 11, in Union City. Speakers included Dr. Keith Carver, UTM chancellor; John Abel, assistant vice chancellor for Student Affairs; pastor Nelson Youngblood of Refreshing Springs Ministries in Martin; some of Alexander’s teammates from the UTM Dance Team; and their coach, Jessi Woody. Twenty purple and white balloons, marking Alexander’s age, were released at the end of the vigil at the request of her family. “We’ve lost another Skyhawk. We’ve lost three this (school) year,” Abel said. “Every one of them hurts.” (The Pacer photo).
