Two Murray Men Injured In Rollover Crash

Murray, Ky.—Two men from Murray were injured after a rollover accident early this morning on Douglas Road in Calloway County. The vehicle went airborne, struck several trees and two ditches and the engine broke free from the vehicle and was found in a creek 477 feet from the vehicle.
Injured were the driver Jake E. Wrye, age 23, and the passenger Austin S. Brittain, age 23. Both were transported to the Murray-Calloway County Hospital emergency room, after which Brittain was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center by Air Evac. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
According to a press release from the Calloway Co. Sheriff’s Office, deputies, Calloway Co. EMS and the Calloway Co. Fire & Rescue responded to the 500 block of Douglas Road at 12:24 a.m. this morning.
Upon arrival, they found the 2005 Chevrolet Corvette in the center of the roadway with severe damage. Both Wrye and Brittain were still in the vehicle. According to the press release, both were alert and had to be extricated by non-mechanical means.
Upon further investigation, it was determined the vehicle went airborne and upon reconnecting with the roadway the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway, striking several trees and two different ditch lines.
The vehicle came to rest upright in the middle of the roadway striking it hard enough that it caused the engine to break free from the vehicle. The engine was located in a creek bank 477 ft from where the vehicle left the roadway.
The investigation is ongoing by Deputy Troy Doss with the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office.
