Paris, Tenn.–The Henry County Sheriff’s Office will begin enforcing what is commonly referred to as the “tarp law” and deputies will be stationed at the Henry County Landfill handing out flyers describing the law so that citizens can be made aware.
Sheriff Monte Belew said, “The law basically says that any non-commercial load being hauled by an individual must be reasonably secured but does not require a tarp cover the contents.” A commercial “for hire” business or individual however, must have a tarp to cover the contents of whatever they may be hauling. This is in an effort to keep the roads and communities of Henry County clean and to reduce on the amount of trash and debris found alongside roadways.
