Union City, Tenn.–The Union City High School softball team raised funds this spring via a project called “Pennies for the Palmers.”
Each player was given a jar to fill for the entire month of April with as much change as possible.
The money was presented to the Chris Palmer Family prior to the start of a game in a ceremony that replaced the usual “first pitch” ceremony.
The Palmer family — which includes Chris, a teacher and coach at UC Middle School, and Allison, the vice principal at UCMS, along with two daughters who are students in the Union City School System — recently lost their home to fire.
Many Golden Tornado also contributed to the cause.
