Mayfield, Ky.—There was a lot of good news on several different fronts as Graves Co. Economic Development officials Wednesday announced 11 projects worth more than $115M which will mean 160 new full-time jobs in the area. The multi-announcement event was held at the Graves Co. High School.
Hemp manufacturer GenCanna spokesman Richard Drennen announced that instead of the original $40M investment to the Mayfield area, its business on U.S. 45 will mean a $60M investment.
At the multi-announcement event at Graves Co. High School, Commissioner Sandy Dunahoo announced the county is the recipient of a $1M Community Development Block Grant which will help in the growth of the new GenCanna facility. The funds can be used by the company to lease equipment and when the lease is repaid, the county can use the funds for future economic development projects.
Ryan Drane from the Graves Co. Economic Development office announced the construction of a new 100,000 sq. ft. spec industrial building in the Hickory Industrial Park. The building will have 33’ eaves and is expandable to 200,000+ sq. ft.
Other announcements made Wednesday at the event:
–Grace Park Announcement by Brad Youngblood. He announced the cleanup of the former General Tire site and conversion to a new industrial park with the partnership of Graves County Economic Development and Graves County Fiscal Court. When completed, the 200-acre site will be able to accommodate tenants with buildings from 5,000 to 500,000 sq. ft.
–First Choice Kubota announced they would be constructing a $2 million facility on one of the front tracts of Grace Park to expand their inventory and better serve their customers.
–Brad Youngblood also announced the construction of a new 30,000 sq. ft. spec industrial building just south of Grace Park. The building is expandable to 60,000 sq. ft. and is located in an Opportunity Zone.
–Progress Rail Announcement – Ryan Drane announced the construction of a new state-of-the-art locomotive paint booth and extension of track at the facility for an investment of $1.7 million.
–Mayfield Consumer Products Announcement – Troy Propes announced the construction of MCP Packaging Technologies. This $2 million pulp plant will supply Mayfield Consumer Products and other companies with environmentally-friendly packaging solutions.
–Trifecta Announcement – Tom Waldrop & Dave Anderson announced that developer Trifecta was partnering with Jackson Purchase Medical Center to construct a new clinic at the entrance of the Hickory Industrial Park. This will allow the hospital to provide medical care to the companies and employees in the park as well as Northern Graves County.
–State Transportation Cabinet officials Kyle Poat and Chris Kuntz announced it is speeding the Hwy. 80 bypass from Cuba Road to 1-69. Construction should begin this month and will be completed at the beginning of 2020.
–Deputy Secretary Josh Benton discussed a variety of new Workforce Development programs available to schools, communities and companies in the Region.
–Four Rivers Foundation Announcement – Dianne Owen & Robbie Rudolph announced the launch of a new Individual Learning Plan tool that is mobile and can be used by students beginning in Middle School to help them determine their best education and career path.
–Workforce Development Update – Deputy Secretary Josh Benton – Discussed a variety of new Workforce Development programs available to schools, communities and companies in the Region.
–Ingram’s Water & Air Announcement – Dan Lazarevic – Announced a $1 million expansion to their current facility in the Hickory Industrial Park. This expansion is expected to create 20 full-time jobs.

Total New full-time Jobs to be created by announcements: 160+ (not counting the 100’s or 1,000’s that could be created from the Grace Park redevelopment and two spec buildings).
