Bargains Galore At This Weekend's Atkins-Porter Neighborhood Yard Sale

Paris, Tenn.–There will be bargains galore during the Historic Atkins-Porter Neighborhood Yard Sale on Saturday, May 11.
More than 18 yard sales, many of which are multi-family sales will fill the neighborhood for the fourth year in a row, according to Rachel Terrell, president of the Atkins-Porter Neighborhood Association. Although participants can set their own hours, the official schedule is 8 am – 1 pm.

“Maps will be printed and we also will be utilizing Atkins Porter Neighborhood Facebook link to let shoppers know the addresses of the sales,” Terrell said. “There will be plenty of signage, in the neighborhood, as well,” she said. The event rain date is Saturday, June 1.

“Many of these sales are within walking distance of each other, which makes it easier to shop” she said. “Our neighborhood’s sale items are incredibly diverse, which makes it more fun to browse and buy.” There will be plenty of baby items, women’s clothing, furniture, decorative accessories and more, according to Terrell.

Shoppers are encouraged to park at the A.P. Recreation Center on Walnut and enjoy strolling the neighborhood’s historic, shady streets. As in years past, there will be cold drinks sold at some locations.

The neighborhood lies within a triangular footprint bordered by Veterans Drive, East Wood Street and Tyson Avenue. Now in its fourth year, the Association also hosts a Neighborhood Welcome Dinner for Bethel University’s physician assistant students, takes part in Helping Hand, created and sponsors a Little Free Library at the A.P. Rec Center, has a booth at the DPA Downtown Ice Cream Social & Antique Car Show, holds fundraisers for the Atkins-Porter Community Botanical Garden, hosts a Day in the Park – A Fantastic Fall Festival and hosts the neighborhood Christmas lighting contest.

Monthly meetings are at the Bethel Building on Lake Street on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm. “All interested individuals are invited to join us,” said Terrell.
