Oakland Fire Department Planned Burn Set For Saturday; Area To Be Blocked Off

Oakland, Tenn.–The Oakland Volunteer Fire Department will be conducting a planned burn of a house for training purposes this Saturday, May 4, and they will be blocking off the area to traffic.
Lt. Chuck Asher said, “This will be a great opportunity” for training.
The home is at 50 Scott Evans Rd. and Asher said, “During this time, we ask people in the area not call into 911 and flood their phone lines with calls about a fire if it is in that location.”
Asher said the department thanks the owner of the property “for this invaluable training” opportunity and said the Springville Volunteer Fire Department will be participating.
Scott Evans Road will be blocked off to through traffic to ensure the utmost safety to the firefighters and community members, he said.

“This will, of course, depend on the weather. NOAA is projecting possible thunderstorms. It will be left to the training officer as well as other officers on the scene as to whether to call off the training,” he said.
