Paris Man Charged With Long List Of Charges After Chase

Paris, Tenn.—A Paris man was arrested on a long list of charges after a chase involving Henry County Sheriff’s deputies on Saturday.
Jeffrey Mobley, age 56, of 1302 Edwards St., is charged with two counts of evading arrest, resisting arrest, assault, reckless driving DUI, open container, driving without a license, theft and shoplifting, and tampering with evidence.
The incident began when Deputy Lt. Clyde Sulcer, along with Deputy Gary Carroll, went to an address on Hwy. 79 seeking a person in violation of an order of protection. While there, Sulcer saw a vehicle next door that he knew was driven by Mobley, who he knew was wanted on a felony warrant.
Mobley backed out of the driveway and drove off at a high rate of speed, with deputies in pursuit. Mobley lost control of his vehicle trying to turn onto Steele Road but continued onto Camp Tyson Road. Sulcer struck Mobley’s vehicle in the rear and Mobley jumped out of the passenger side door of his vehicle and took off on foot.
According to the report, Mobley fell in a wooded area and with his right hand behind his back told Sulcer, “I’ll shoot you” twice. Sulcer tasered Mobley and kicked him in the face. According to the report, Mobley continued to resist, was shocked with the taser twice more, and finally was handcuffed.
Mobley was transported to the Henry County Medical Center ER where he admitted he ate three grams of meth in the woods.
His bond is set at $25,000.
