Wingo Man Arrested After School Staff Spot Bruises, Scratches On Boy

Mayfield, Ky.–After staff at Wingo Elementary School noticed scratches and bruises on a child, the child’s step-father was arrested and charged with fourth-degree assault and child abuse.
After a home visit by Graves Co. Sheriff’s deputies, Tamese Barr of 219 S. St. Paul St., Wingo, was arrested and taken to the Graves Co. Jail.
According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, on April 24, at approximately 9 AM, Deputy Snapper Seaton responded to the Wingo Elementary School on a call about a six year old that was being abused in their home.

Deputy Seaton and case worker from the Cabinet for Families and Children met with the child and determined that a home visit was necessary.
Deputy Seaton and the case worker went to the residence. There, they interviewed the mother and step father of the child about the scratches and bruises on the child’s body.
Both said that the step father, Tamese Barr, had caused the injuries to the six year old on the neck/shoulder area as a form of punishment when the child wouldn’t listen and/or act right. Barr said that he used this as punishment instead of spanking the child due to the fact that he was arrested for assault 4th degree and child abuse before, in 2017.
Deputies determined that there was enough evidence to arrest Tamese Barr again for assault 4th degree, child abuse. He was lodged in the Graves County Jail.
