Hostess Princess Throws Two Hush Puppies To Grandfathers To Open Fish Tent

Paris, Tenn.–Hostess Princess Paige Alexander opened the Fish Tent at the World’s Biggest Fish Fry like no one has ever done before–she threw not just one, but two hush puppies. Her recipients were her grandfathers, Dwain Alexander and Ronnie Allen, and they caught them perfectly. It was a two-handed throw which Paige said she had practiced only once before the Wednesday night opening.
Drew Williams of US Foods said a total of 11,000 pounds of catfish is ready to be served. Williams said 5,000 pounds are fresh catfish that “were swimming and harvested on Monday and shipped Tuesday and delivered to US Foods this morning. That’s as fresh as you can get.” The fresh catfish will be served on Friday and Saturday when the crowds will be even bigger. Fresh catfish was served at last year’s Fish Tent and the public loved it, he said.
Fish Tent Schedule:
Wednesday – Thursday: 5pm – 9pm
Friday – Saturday: 11am – 9pm
