Henry, Tenn.—A barn was destroyed, along with an RV, two cars, a jet ski and other items stored inside were destroyed by a fire Tuesday afternoon on Van Dyke Road.
The Henry Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched on a report of a barn on fire behind a house on Van Dyke Road just after 1:30 p.m.
According to Firefighter Dustin Odom, when units arrived, they found the barn fully ablaze, as well as the RV, two cars, jet ski, utility trailer loaded with tires and part of the house itself.
Odom said, “Our team extinguished the blaze, saving the home with the assistance of Mansfield Community Volunteer Fire Department and Paris Fire Department. Also, a Puryear Fire Department engine happen to be in the area and responded to the scene.”
Odom told WENK/WTPR Tuesday night that neighbors called the fire department about the fire. A teenage son was in the house but didn’t realize what was happening until hearing a popping noise and realized the house was on fire and came running out of the house. A pet dog also survived.
Odom said there wasn’t even any smoke damage to the interior of the home, so it’s still liveable.
The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
