UC Police Seek Truck Driver Who Knocked Down Poles, Caused Power Outage

Union City, Tenn.–The Union City Police are seeking the public’s help in finding the driver of the truck that tore down power poles and caused an outage that lasted seven hours. The outage also was labor intensive for the workers at the Union City Energy Authority and caused the police department to re-route traffic to maintain a safer working environment for the workers.
Anyone who knows the identity of the truck driver is asked to call Union City Police at 731 885 1515 or Crimestoppers at 731 885 8477.
Union City Energy Authority had about 200 customers out Wednesday due to a truck that snagged a caution light at the intersection of Lake Road and Main Street.  The truck tore down the caution light and broke two primary poles that had a lot of equipment on them.
The accident happened about 12:15 PM and all power was restored about 7:30 PM.  UCEA had all available employees working on restoring service and replacing the labor intensive poles.
Jerry Bailey, CEO of the organization said he regrets the outage and assures people power was restored as soon as possible.
Bailey also wanted to thank the Union City Police Department for rerouting traffic to maintain a safer working environment for their crews.
