Paris, TN – Paris Board of Public Utilities General Manager, Terry Wimberley has been appointed to the Tennessee Board of Water Quality, Oil and Gas. Wimberley’s appointment came in October 2018 under former Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam. Wimberley will serve a four-year term on the Board as the municipality’s representative.
The Tennessee Board of Water Quality, Oil and Gas holds hearings, discusses, and makes decisions on issues relating to the State’s water quality, as well as oil and gas development. The Board consists of twelve members. Nine members are citizens appointed by the Governor for four-year terms and the other three are ex-officio members, with one each coming from the Tennessee Departments of Environment and Conservation, Health, and Agriculture.
“I am honored to have been appointed by the governor to this board position,” said Wimberley. “I look forward to having a voice and playing a role in water quality issues that might affect our utility or our customers.”
In his letter of appointment, Haslam sited Wimberley’s “individual characteristics and professional qualifications” as key factors in his decision to appoint him to the Board. Additionally, Haslam said, “he believes Wimberley’s participation is certain to leave a positive impact on the Board and the work it does.”
Wimberley attended his first Board Meeting on Tuesday, April 16 in Nashville.
