Paris, Tenn.—The Paris Municipal Regional Planning Commission approved the site plan for the new Splash Pad being developed at Eiffel Tower Park during its regular meeting Thursday night. Planners also approved a site plan for a new greenhouse business in Paris.
Following public input sessions last year, the Splash Pad already has received the go-ahead by the city, which already has applied for a Local Parks and Recreation Fund grant to help with the project.
Paris City Manager Kim Foster told planners that they were required to review the information presented on the project by the state.
Foster reminded the planners of the project, noting the Splash Pad will be constructed to the west of the current swimming pool and parking will be expanded in the park. Sections for youth and families will be construction and will include pavilions, a miniature Eiffel Tower with water slide, shade structures and other areas.
In other business, the planners approved a minor site plan for Sunny Meed Greenhouse, which will be located at 306 Memorial Drive at the former location of Wildwood Nursery.
Janice Rigsby submitted the site plan for the business. The site currently remains vacant except for the asphalt that was used for Wildwood Nursery.
Community Development Director Jennifer Morris said proposed structures on the property are of the temporary type, which an office proposed for 14 feet by 24 feet and a greenhouse proposed for 20 feet by 24 feet.
Morris said the structures meet the required setbacks and the parking is more than adequate. Any additions or expansions to the site would need to come back to the planning commission for review, she said.
