Union City, Tenn.–Union City High School senior Tyler Walton was recently named The Messenger-Obion County Prep Basketball Player of the Year for the 2018-19 season.
Walton averaged 15 points-per-game in helping the Golden Tornadoes to both the regular season and tournament championship in District 13A. He led UC in 3-pointers made (85), rebounds (5.2 average) and minutes played (813).
The 6-4 senior shot nearly 60 percent from 2-point range, 34 percent from 3-point range and 74 percent from the free throw line while scoring in double figures in 29 of the Twisters’ 32 games.
Walton was named to the All-District, All-District Tournament and All-Regional Tournament teams.
He finished his UCHS playing career with 1,037 points.
