Obion Co. Schools Board Approves Revised Dress Code

Union City, Tenn.—The Obion Co. Schools Board of Education Monday night voted unanimously to revise the district’s dress code policy, effective immediately.
The amended policy will be posted today on the Obion Co. Schools’ website.
Among changes is the elimination of the requirement that students only wear collared shirts, with solid colors with no design. The existing policy requirements regarding pants will still exist. Students will no longer be restricted from wearing vests, light jackets, sweaters, and sweatshirts.
Director of Schools Dr. Leah Watkins and board members noted the new policy is more streamlined. Board Chairman Fritz Fussell said the dress code had been in effect for some time and was in need of an ‘overhaul’.
The proposal was presented at the board meeting by Director of Schools Dr. Leah Watkins. The proposal followed extensive discussion at the board’s recent board retreat.
