The Eagle Has Landed: Newest Fort Donelson Eaglet Shows Its Head

Dover, Tenn.–With the news in mid-March that an eaglet had been born to the Bald Eagles at the Fort Donelson National Military Battlefield in Dover, area photographers have been gathering there every day to capture the eaglet’s early moments with their cameras.
Several generations of Bald Eagles have been born at Fort Donelson since the original Eagles began roosting there a few years ago. The count of Bald Eagles born at Fort Donelson is now at 27.
One of the founding members of the Fort Donelson Eagles Facebook page, Connie Wilson, took this photo of the eaglet showing its head in the nest.
The parents have been taking turns bringing food to the nest and feeding the eaglet and observers have said it appears there was only one eaglet born this time.
The eagle’s tree-top condo is located near the top of a large pine tree, in the heart of the historic earthen Confederate fortification.
