Paris, Tenn.–The Downtown Paris Association is inviting everyone to the West Alley in downtown Paris at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 5th, for the ribbon cutting of the newest mural in the Back Alley Paris project, “Phantoms of the Crete Opera House”.
“Back Alley Paris has been a wonderful art project for our entire community. We are very proud of the artwork in the downtown alleys. Come to the West Alley and hear the stories of the new mural and talk with the artist, Dan Knowles. Take a walk through the alley and see where history and art meet,” said Kathy Ray, Executive Director of DPA and project manager for Back Alley Paris.
“Phantoms of the Crete Opera House” was created by Paris artist Dan Knowles to recognize entertainment throughout our community. Specially honored are several people of importance who have made so much happen for our community. Among those included are: Carl Holder, the City Manager who started the Back Alley Paris project, Cherry Jones, a Stage and Movie actress, Tony and Emmy award winner and one who continues to support the arts in our community, Bobby Jones, a gospel music star and BET television host from Paris, Gaines Hedges, a marketing promoter, friend and a great cheerleader extraordinary for the city of Paris, and Marsalis Teague, quarterback for Henry County High School #3, quarterback for University of Tennessee, and now a successful realtor and businessman in Nashville, who continues to give back to the youth of our community. There are many people and places in this mural. See if you can find yourself!
