Paris, Tenn.–A large crowd was on hand Friday afternoon for the ribbon-cutting of the newest mural in the west alley in downtown Paris. The mural, which depicts the history of local entertainers and entertainment, was created by Paris Artist Dan Knowles. Many of those on hand were either depicted in the mural or are related to people on the mural. There already of several other historical murals in the alley, created by Knowles and fellow artist John Monroe. Downtown Paris Association Executive Director Kathy Ray said, “I’m proud of what we have accomplished so far and there is more to come”, noting another mural is planned in the alley next to the Paris Board of Public Utilities which will tell the history of the TVA and public power. Friday’s ribbon-cutting, planned by the Paris-Henry Co. Chamber of Commerce, was planned to coincide with this week’s April in Paris open houses at downtown stores. (Shannon McFarlin photo).
