Murray, Ky.—Good news for anyone who has attended events at the Curris Center in Murray: the parking lot will expand by 30 to 40 more parking spaces this summer.
With the confirmation of both the Chick-fil-A and Starbucks restaurants at the Curris Center opening in the fall, the expansion of the parking lot was approved to accommodate the expected increase in visitors.
Einstein Bros. Bagels will be opening in the Waterfield Library and the Thoroughbred Room cafeteria in the Curris Center will be overhauled to feature a Steak n Shake.
Jason Youngblood, assistant director of facilities design and construction, told the Murray State News that this summer’s construction project will not only include expansion, but updating of the present parking lot and changes to the crosswalk in front of the Curris Center. Some renovations may include removal of the islands in the parking lot and the addition of drop off zones and new lighting.
The project will cost some $645,000. The project is expected to be complete by the fall semester.
