Dyersburg, Tenn.—The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has now officially confirmed that the body found this week in a wooded area in Dyer County is Shelby Hubbard, who had been missing from Dyersburg home since February.
Ms. Hubbard, age 24, left her purse and keys at home and authorities believe she left the house of her own free will.
The TBI told WENK/WTPR earlier this week they could not officially identify the body until an autopsy was conducted even though family members had been posting on Facebook that the body was hers.
But Friday evening they released a statement saying, “We are now able to identify the deceased individual discovered in a wooded area of Dyer County earlier this week as Shelby Hubbard. We have no further details to release at this time.”
Ms. Hubbard’s body has been sent to Memphis for autopsy to determine the cause of death.
