There’s nothing like a good book.
Or two…
Or three…
The wildly-popular Union City Elementary School Book Fair is ongoing this week and has once more has already proven to be a rousing success.
And there’s still time to get there and participate for parents and grandparents.
Wednesday was set aside for the annual Grandparents Day and the library at UCES was packed with students and their families as book shopping was at a premium. There were posters, diaries and other learning supplies also available for purchase.
Parent Night will be celebrated on Thursday from 5-7 p.m., and is also expected to draw a huge crowd.
The fair will be open Thursday to students from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., prior to Parent Night.
There was already a huge turnout for Pre-K Night on Monday.
“This is such a fun time for our students and their families as they make memories and the parents and grandparents get to encourage the learning process through the reading of books,” UCES Principal David Byars said.
“We’ve had wonderful participation and the kids have really been excited to have such a big selection of new books and materials to choose from. Mrs. (Mindy) McClanahan and a big group of volunteers have certainly stayed busy and they’ve done a wonderful job.”
The fair will also be open Friday morning.
