Big Bass, Big Stage, Big Dreams For Bethel Anglers

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Two of Bethel University’s prize-winning anglers had the opportunity of a lifetime Sunday when they walked across the biggest stage in their sport. Cody Huff and Garrett Enders have dreamed of walking across the stage at the Bass Masters Classic for the biggest part of their lives and they realized that dream with thousands of fans cheering on for them and other college anglers.
Cody and Garrett joined six other schools on that stage this Sunday afternoon in Knoxville to weigh in the Large Mouth Bass they had caught during the Bass Masters College Classic tournament. The pair of Wildcat anglers were chosen to attend the college classic after winning the Bass Masters College National Championship last summer in Tahlequah OK.
“Even though our guys did not win this event, it was a fantastic tournament,” said Bethel Coach Garry Mason of Springville. “To see our guys getting to live out a lifelong dream was a very emotional experience for our whole team. We are so very proud for Cody and Garrett for this achievement.”
Only one other Bethel University student has been on the Bass Masters stage.
John Garrett of Bethel fished in the actual Bass Masters Classic in 2017 as one of only 55 anglers from across America to compete that year for the coveted title of Bass Master Classic Champion.
And, Sunday was also Cody Huff’s birthday. What a birthday present.
