Dresden, Tenn.–A Memphis man has been arrested on a charge of attempted second degree murder in connection with a robbery in Dresden.
Arrested was Keylon Deandre Weaver, 27, charged with attempted second degree murder, aggravated robbery, and aggravated burglary.
Weaver was captured early Saturday morning in Union City by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Recovery Task Force and the Union City Police Department at the Magnum Inn.
Dresden Police Chief Steve Howe said at approximately 1:02 a.m. Friday, March 15, Dresden Police officers responded to a shooting at 119 Rucker Drive, on a report that a home invasion and robbery had just occurred there.
The victim was shot in the neck and airlifted to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.
Howe said officers learned that Weaver forced the door open and shot the victim in the throat at point blank range. Weaver then allegedly held the man’s 84-year-old mother at gunpoint and demanded they give him all their cash.
According to Chief Howe, Weaver was given $2,000 and then fled on foot.
The shooting victim was released from the hospital on Sunday and is now resting at home.
Howe said three other persons of interest may have helped plan the robbery.
