Union City, Tenn.–Two Union City High School spring sports teams avenged losses with resounding victories on Friday.
The Golden Tornado baseball team got even with Westview for a loss two days earlier with a 10-0 mercy rule victory over Martin at Elam Stadium.
The UC soccer team, meanwhile, went on the road and beat Crockett County in their first meeting since a lopsided setback six years ago, 3-2.
Union City’s tennis teams both lost at Paducah Tilghman, the girls dropping a 5-4 decision, and the boys falling 7-2.
Today’s high school schedule has UC baseball hosting Bradford at 6:30, Lady Tornado softball visiting Gleason at 5 p.m., and the Twister tennis team playing at Gibson County.

After dropping a 2-1 decision to the Chargers on Wednesday, the Purple and Gold emphatically bounced back on Friday to improve to 3-1.
Sophomore southpaw Dalton Bone allowed just two singles and struck out five, while Will Hogan had three hits and three RBI in the Tornadoes’ romp.
Conner Hurt singled twice and scored three times, while Dawson Searcy had two hits, two ribbies and scored twice. Sam Theobald and Kaler Bobo both doubled, Bobo scoring two runs and driving in another.
Austin Atwill had a run-scoring double for UC, which scored four times in the second and then brought the contest to an early close with a four-run fifth.
Westview was guilty of five errors.

The second of Josh Sills’ two goals counted as the game-winner at the 32-minute mark of the second half to give the Twisters their first win of the season.
Sills, who was assisted on both his tallies by Brady Coleman, scored his first goal in the opening minute for UC (1-1).
Brad Schlager had the Tornadoes’ other point, scoring an Olympic goal off a corner kick. An Olympic goal is scored when the ball goes into the net without anyone touching it, straight off a corner kick.
“This is the most complete game we’ve played against a good team in a while,” UC head coach John Graham said.
Caleb Craig had a pair of saves in goal for Union City.
Crockett County had won the only other meeting between the two programs – back in UC’s inaugural season in 2013 – 11-1.
The Tornadoes play their first home match of the season Tuesday, hosting Gibson County at 6 p.m.
