Paris Landing Not Seeking To Ban Fishing Tournaments

PARIS, Tenn. – Paris Landing State Park will not seek to ban the use of the park for any fishing tournaments as the park develops a set of standard practices for tournaments.
A press release from the Tennessee State Parks issued Tuesday afternoon has refuted a blog post that has been circulating on Facebook from a site calling itself “Lake Record: Setting The Record Straight”. There are no names listed on the articles and no names of people to contact listed on the site.
“Paris Landing State Park has been fortunate enough to be a host site for local, regional, and national tournaments for many years,” said Zach Tinkle, park manager at Paris Landing State Park. “We have no intention to limit the amount of tournaments the park hosts.”
For Paris Landing State Park to ensure visitor safety, protect park resources and prevent scheduling conflicts, a permitting system is being developed for the 2020 tournament season, according to state officials. This permitting system will be applicable to tournaments of 100 boats and larger. Paris Landing is working with the Henry County Tourism Authority to finalize the details of the permit requirements.
“The Henry County Tourism Authority has been instrumental in recruiting fishing tournaments to the area and the park is proud to host many of them,” added Tinkle. “Fishing tournaments are critical to the local economy and the park, which is why we are working closely with the city, county and tourism authority to ensure we align our processes to meet the outcomes of the community, the anglers and the park.”
