McKenzie, Tenn. – Former long-time McKenzie Police Chief James Sydnor, age 91, died Friday at Paris Healthcare. Sydnor was police chief for 40 years and was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 11, at Brummitt – McKenzie Funeral Home in McKenzie.. The family will receive friends Monday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until service time. Brother Trent Bullock will officiate. Interment is at Carroll Memorial Gardens, McKenzie.
He was born January 15, 1928 in McKenzie to John William and Betty Lois Baker Sydnor. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Peggie Berry Sydnor, two sisters, Thelma Neisler and Lois Newton and two brothers, Robert Sydnor and Gene Sydnor.
He is survived by his son, John (Peggy) Sydnor of Paris, one brother Dale Sydnor and one grandson, William Blake Sydnor.
