Paris, Tenn.—A new directional sign has been erected at the KOA Campground near Kentucky Lake and it’s already creating attention for the campground.
The sign displays the mileage to several other Paris’ in the United States from the local Paris KOA Campground—as well as the mileage to the other Paris located in France.
Marc and Starr Peterson have owned the campground since August of 2018 and they said they are not finished with the sign yet. So far, the sign lists the mileages to Paris, Texas; Paris, Kentucky; Paris, Illinois; Paris, Maine and Paris, Idaho. AND, of course, Paris, France. (In case you’re curious, it’s 4,401 miles from Paris, Tennessee, to Paris, France).
The Petersons said they are always looking for ways to improve the campground and thought the directional sign would offer a cute photo opportunity for their guests.
“We find ourselves explaining which ‘Paris’ our campground is located, so we thought we could pay homage to all the Paris towns in the U.S.,” they said.
The sign is at the front entrance, where guests can see it once they drive in. “It’s in a great place for when they want to have that photo op,” they said.
They plan to add Paris, New York; Paris, Arkansas; and Paris, Missouri to the sign.
They said they were able to find all the mileages by using Google maps and calculated the most direct driving route to each (except Paris, France, of course).
“This is just the beginning of what’s to come”, they said. “With the help of more guests we can bring our other ideas to fruition.”
The KOA Campground is located at 6290 E. Antioch Rd. and can be contacted by calling 731 642 6895.
