Retail Sales Increases In Paris; Four New Business Licenses Issued

Paris, Tenn.—The city of Paris saw an increase in retail sales and issued four new business licenses, according to the report presented by City Finance Director Traci Shannon at the city commission meeting Thursday.
Shannon said the city showed an increase in Retail Sales of 3.47% in December compared to December of last year.  She also said the city is ahead of FY16 and FY17.  “FY18 was an extraordinarily good year, so we appear to still be in good shape,” she said.

General Fund revenues exceeded expenditures in January and have jumped ahead for the fiscal year to date.  A couple of out of the ordinary expenses this month included $45K for a 2018 Dodge Truck for the Street Dept. and $24K for repair of the Track-Loader at the Landfill.

Property tax revenues have been rolling in as expected, she said.  February will be the last month to collect the current 2018 property taxes.  The 2017 unpaid taxes will be turned over to Chancery Court for collection around the middle of March.

The city issued four business licenses in January:
New business:  Dream Lash Love, Hometown Vape Lounge
New owner: Books & More
Add’l location: Jones Bros. Contractors
