Louisville, Ky.—A Hickman police officer who was killed in the line of duty a year ago was honored over the weekend at the “Heroes Tribute Gala” held at Kentucky. The gala event honors police, firemen and emergency medical workers who have died in the line of duty in the past year in Kentucky, Missouri and Indiana.
Officer Rodney Smith of Hickman lost his life March 2, 2018, when the cruiser he was driving was swept away by floodwaters.
The event is a fundraiser for families of those who have died in the line of duty.
Smith’s name also will be placed on the National Law Enforcement Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C.
