WUTM posted the following on its Facebook page:
“All of us at WUTM are in shock this morning. We are sad to report that our Senior Broadcast Engineer, Mr. Harold Cochran, died last night from an apparent heart attack. Harold was the “Wind Beneath Our Wings” at WUTM and UTM Television, and also the entire Department of Communications. He was not only a respected colleague, but a friend. Harold could fix almost anything. He was a fine Christian man and was a marvelous singer who sang in several Gospel quartets over the years. At the time of his death, he was a member (along with his brother) of the Frog Jump Gospel Quartet. Harold served our country in the United States Air Force.
Harold Cochran was a kind and giving man, who helped many people. Our collective hearts are broken and we ache for his wife Tonya and the rest of his many family members and friends. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this sad time of loss. Thank you, Mr. Cochran, for all that you did for us here at “The Hawk” and UTM TV. We will miss you.”
